QUB student Bea Prentiss - birthday dancing for charity

12 hours of non-stop rueda to raise money for Alzheimer's research (Oxford's OPTIMA unit).

Start Time: 21.02.09 - 1 pm
End Time: 22.02.09 - 1 am

Where: Wolfson College Dining Hall, Linton Road, Oxford, UK, OX2 6UD, car parks available

Get 10 people to sponsor each hour you dance, plus ask for a bonus if you do the calling, and another bonus if the wheel carries on non-stop for 12 hours. No matter what your level, you can help. There will be hours for beginners, intermediates, and advanced dancers. Email marathon.info@googlemail.com to get a list of moves for each level, plus safety guidelines. To register, email marathon.reg@googlemail.com .

Method: Dancers pledge to dance a certain amount of time. When their time is up, the caller gets them back to their partner, and another couple joins the circle to take their place. In this way, you can reach a personal achievement goal PLUS a team achievement goal (of continuous rueda for 12 hours). You can even take a break and come back later!

Goal: £12,000. If there are 5 couples each hour, and each dancer has 10 sponsors pledging £10 for each hour, then we can raise £12,000!
